The Origins of StreetLeap

StreetLeap’s founders believe that renters deserve to know everything about the costs of renting a place before they make any decisions. Through their experience in running a rental brokerage, they saw an opportunity to provide consistent, visible details for each rental property - both fixed costs and variable fees - to help renters make informed comparisons before touring or signing a contract on a rental apartment or home. 

Believing that a higher level of transparency can better serve the rental market, StreetLeap founders Kavin Hanner, Josh Levy, and Austin Gonsalves set out to create a new kind of rental listings and rental search tool. They began to create a search platform that would not only provide accurate listings but also help renters answer an essential question: ​ How will this rental fit my life’s needs and my budget without any extra cost surprises after I’ve moved in? This birthed the team’s concept of TrueCost®, which is the focus of StreetLeap.com. 

Bootstrapping their business out of an apartment in Denver, the trio understood the city’s huge demand for rental apartments. They decided that Denver would be the perfect place to roll out StreetLeap.
